If you read my last post… you know my students were inspired to write poems. So we took that passion and created a beautiful Mother’s Day gift that will be certain to make a mom smile (even tear up). I thought I would share the idea with you.
Here are the app ingredients:
- iPad Camera
- Photo Editing Tool: Snapseed, Noir, or just use the built in editing tool.
- ReadWriteThink Diamante App
- Pages app
- Explain Everything or Doodlecast Pro (both are great screencasting apps)
Step 1: Be a Photog!
I took a photo of each child with their iPad. Students edited their photo to black and white using Snapseed or their built in photo editor on the iPad. For the project my daughters did, we used the Noir app to edit.
Step 2: Write!
Using the ReadWriteThink Diamante App, write a poem about your mom. This app helps guide you through the process of creating a diamante poem.
Step 3: Create!
Upload the photo into Pages. Enlarge the image so that it uses the entire space of the pages document. Then add a text box and rewrite your poem in the text box.
Step 4: Screencast!
Using the share tool in Pages app, open the document into Doodlecast Pro or Explain Everything. Both apps are great screencasting apps. Have students record their voice reading the poem!
Step 5: Share!
Save the project to Dropbox and share link with parents using a QR code. Or have your students email or upload their project to their blog. For the project with my daughters we uploaded the video from Explain Everything onto YouTube.
